Early Life & Education
Clark is the son of Lamar Hunt and the grandson of oil tycoon H.L. Hunt. In 1960, his father was a charter member of the American Football League and had founded the Chiefs as the Dallas Texans.
His family moved to Kansas City two years before Clark’s birth. He studied at St. Mark’s School of Texas and then enrolled in Southern Methodist University, where he earned a degree in 1987 in business administration with a concentration in finance.
During his university years, he was a captain of the nationally-ranked soccer team of SMU and a two-time Academic All-American. Clark served for two years with Goldman Sachs as an investment banker. Later, he moved back to Dallas and worked with his father.
Clark helped his father run the soccer club Kansas City Wizards until the team was sold in 2006.
After his father died in 2006, Clark, his mother, and siblings inherited ownership of the Chiefs legally. However, Clark is the public face of the ownership group of Kansas City Chiefs and operating head of the franchise and represented the Chiefs at all owners’ meetings. Thus, he became the chairman.
