NEW DELHI – The legal team of Bollywood actress, singer and dancer Nora Fatehi, a Moroccan-origin Canadian, has clarified that she is neither an accused in the Sukesh Chandrasekhar case nor charged with committing or being involved in any crime.
The clarification came after a hearing was scheduled for November 2 in a case before a Delhi court dealing with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), in which she had been summoned as a witness.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, her legal team said the EOW case related to Sukesh Chandrasekhar had been listed for hearing in a Delhi court, where Fatehi was called as a witness.
Her lawyers appeared in court and submitted that she had received the summons on very short notice and was unable to attend in person because of previously scheduled professional commitments.
According to the statement, an application seeking exemption from personal appearance was filed on Fatehi’s behalf. The court then adjourned the hearing to November 6, 2026, and issued fresh summons for her appearance.
Background of the Case
The case relates to allegations that Chandrasekhar, while imprisoned in Delhi’s Rohini Jail, posed as a senior government official and extorted around 200 crore rupees.
The Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing investigated the matter and filed a chargesheet under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. Chandrasekhar faces more than 30 criminal cases involving fraud, forgery, extortion and money laundering, and is currently serving a jail sentence.
Earlier Questioning
Fatehi had previously been questioned about her association with Chandrasekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paul. Her statement was recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), after which she was named a prosecution witness in a supplementary chargesheet.
Fatehi told investigators that her communication with Chandrasekhar was conducted through his wife.
