Well-known Pakistani digital creator, TikTok star and Instagram influencer Samiya Hijab has described Umrah as a major turning point in her life.
Speaking at a recent program, she said that closeness to Allah had a positive impact on her life.
Recalling her journey, Sameea said she was alone in Dubai and spent six months living in isolation in her apartment, using social media and hosting live sessions on TikTok. As time passed and wars broke out, she fell into severe stress and depression. With no one around her, she prayed to Allah, after which she was blessed with the opportunity to perform Umrah.
She said she performed Umrah with her mother and brother, and that the journey went very well. At one moment in Makkah, she was holding her mother’s and brother’s hands, and after that, everything in her life changed. She described taking her mother for Umrah as one of the most important achievements of her life.
Recalling an incident in Riyaz ul Jannah, Sameea said she was sitting and praying there when her fans spotted and recognized her and embraced her. She broke down in tears while hugging them, because she was going through an extremely difficult period in her life at the time.
During the program, Sameea urged people to treat others with gentleness and kindness so that issues such as stress and depression can be better addressed.
She said people should show compassion to social media personalities as well. “We only see them dressed up and looking their best, but we don’t know what is going on in their lives,” she said.
Samiya Hijab said that several people have died by suicide because of ridicule, criticism and mental pressure on social media.
Referring to Aamir Liaquat Hussain and Humaira Asghar, she said people should treat friends and others who are struggling with mental stress with empathy.
