Hoia-Baciu Forest, Romania

Hoia-Baciu in Romania is one of the most haunted places in the world. In 1968, a UFO was spotted hovering over the forest of Hoia-Baciu and since then it has gained the haunted tag. It is believed that the forest houses a portal that causes visitors to disappear. According to locals, many people who have been to the forest have been zapped into some other realm.

Bhangarh Fort, India

Bhangarh Fort is located 100 miles southwest of Delhi. Even though the fort is in ruins, people are still scared to visit the place after sunset. It is believed that the fort is cursed by a sorcerer after his advances were rejected by a local princess. They also have a signboard placed at the side of the road that prohibits people from visiting the fort after sunset.

Hill of Crosses, Lithuania

Many of you must have already heard about this place. After all, it is a very spooky place located in northern Lithuania. There are thousands of crosses at the site which were added in remembrance of peasants who rebelled in 1831. Even though the crosses and hills were bulldozed by the Soviets almost three times, locals kept rebuilding them. The site of the crosses is believed to be haunted.

Poveglia Island, Venice, Italy

Poveglia is a beautiful city in Venice and is also a very popular tourist destination. But there is something about Poveglia that is not that attractive. The city has a small abandoned island located between Lido and Venice. This place was once used as a quarantine house for people suffering from bubonic plague. Later, it was turned into a mental asylum in the 1920s. The place is believed to be haunted by the spirits of people who died on the island. Also, the island is inaccessible to the public.

Château de Brissac, Maine-et-Loire, France

This is the highest castle in France featuring 204 rooms, seven floors, and several portrait galleries. It also has a private opera house that can accommodate up to 200 people. Built in the 11th Century, this beautiful castle is believed to be haunted. La Dame Verte, who was the illegitimate child of King Charles VII was murdered by her husband in the château. Her spirit is often seen roaming in the tower room, wearing a green dress.

Myrtles Plantation, USA

Located in the small town of St. Francisville, the mansion of Myrtles Plantation is a spooky place. There have been many reports about ghost sightings in this place. For those unversed, 10 people were murdered in the mansion, so it shouldn’t be surprising if the place is haunted. Despite being dubbed as the most haunted house in America, they run ghost tours around the site.
