On June 26, 1980, Vick was born in Newport News, Virginia, as the second of four children to Brenda Vick and Michael Boddie. His father worked as a sandblaster and spray-painter in the shipyards. Boddie taught football skills to his two sons at an early age. When his father started teaching him the fundamentals, Vick was only three years old. Vick subsequently led the game to his younger brother, Marcus Vick. As Vick grew up, he learned about football from Aaron Brooks. Vick first came to fame at Homer L. Ferguson High School in Newport News. After the closure of Newport News Public Schools, Vick moved to Warwick High School. He attended Virginia Tech.
